Our history
Established in 2010
AHERO was founded in 2010 to serve women and youth, with particular focus on the girl child, in economically challenged communities in rural Africa. Since our beginnings, we have worked to address the specific economic, social, and environmental challenges facing women and youth in their communities. We work in partnership with communities, schools, and local organizations to foster an environment that empowers women and youth.
Who We Are
African Humanitarian Educational Research Organization is a 501(C3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the empowerment of women and youth, particularly the girl child.
Our Mission
African Humanitarian Educational Research Organization (AHERO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to:
- Providing humanitarian support
- Supporting educational programs and initiatives
- Providing resources to impoverished communities particularly in rural communities and villages in South Africa and Nigeria.
What We Do
Our goal is to strengthen society by supporting women and youth, especially the girl child. We promote gender equality and community sustainability through educational, health, sports, and economic programs.
- Support women's social and economic empowerment by funding small projects that help them address their specific challenges.
- Support local and community-based, educational, and health awareness projects and initiatives.
- Support vocational training programs that create opportunities to empower women and youth, with particular focus on the survival and empowerment of the girl child.
- Collaborate with other organizations working in the communities to assist with humanitarian and volunteer activities that sustain those communities.
Our Initiatives
The saying, "it takes a village," still holds true. As part of that village, we aim to do our part in a variety of ways such as:
- Donating books and educational materials to museums and universities.
- Providing self-care items to youth, women, and orphanages.
- Leading community hepatitis vaccine and health awareness programs
- Educating on health awareness and self-care
- Teacher classroom management workshops
- School building and classroom construction initiatives
